The Basics of Choosing a Flashlight
A flashlight is one of those items that you never really think about. However almost all of us have one kicking about somewhere. When it comes to the time to actually buy a flashlight, there is such a huge variety of options available that you should carefully consider what you require before laying down the hard earned cash!
The first thing you should set is a budget but after that it’s pretty much just a case of looking at the application the flashlight is needed for and then weighing up the options.
If you need a heavy duty flashlight for professional work such as firefighting or security then you may wish to look at a high end Mag Light Flashlight that has some weight behind it and a study waterproof seal. If you are going camping then maybe consider a Brinkman Flashlight, a highly trusted camping and outdoor brand.
Flashlights come in all shapes and sizes and most brands will have a range to suit. In my experience Mag Light has been my favorite. I especially favor the Mini Mag Light as it can fit in a jacket pocket, a glove compartment or a kitchen drawer.
Sometimes you may need something more specific and if you cannot find it in the normal consumer brand ranges then you may have to look to the specialists. For example Divers or anyone working in extremely wet conditions you can find a expensive but highly reliable underwater flashlight solutions from brands such as Kinetics.
Also a recent trend for many manufactures is low power consumption models of their popular flashlights. Both Mag Light and Brinkman now have super bright LED flashlights and if you want to be ethical and never need to buy batteries then it’s definitely worth looking into the BOGO Flashlight. BOGO stands for Buy One Get One Free, the company actually donates a solar power BOGO light to a charity or community registered with their company.
So consider your budget, your usage and what kind of brightness / power consumption you require and I am sure you will find the perfect flashlight for your needs.
