Today folks are seeking to maximize their entertainment dollar. Increasing fuel prices, a slowing economy, and high food costs are putting the squeeze on Americans. Luckily, one of the great values in entertainment is your cable or satellite TV service.

If you take a moment and think about it, you can get a bundle including over 100 channels including premium movie channels like HBO and Starz for about $95 dollars a month. That is less than you typically will drop for dinner and a movie. The latest and greatest in the pay television market is HD, or high definition programming. What should you evaluate when hooking up that new flat screen TV you just purchased?

Remember that your basic cable television or satellite TV service is not in hi-def. You have to specifically buy a programming package that includes this type of programming. So where do you begin?

Call your current provider and find out exactly what they can do as far as hi-def service. Satellite television corporations DISH Network and DirecTV have been leading the charge as far as offering the most HD when you look at channel counts. Cable TV providers like Time Warner also have some nice offerings, including HD on-demand. Find out exactly how much upgrading to HD will cost, and if you need additional equipment. Comparing against satellite DVR units is important.

If what they are offering is not what you want, do a little comparison shopping. The newest offerings include an all hi-def package from DISH Network called TurboHD. DirecTV offers HD service for only $9.99 per month. Charges per month vary with cable TV companies across America, so you will need call your cable company to see what the cost will be for high definition.

Another consideration is that many telephone companies now provide TV service. AT&T now offers their U-verse TV service in many areas along with voice and internet. Verizon is also selling television service, offering their fiber service FiOS in some areas. It is advisable that you compare different services side-by-side, such as U-verse vs Direct TV. These developments are a benefit to the customer, as more competition encourages low prices in the end.

Satellite TV provider DISH Network just released new programming bundles called TurboHD. These new programming packages are 100% hi def, removing of the standard definition networks. So is this new satellite TV the right for you?

Its a matter of what your looking for from your satellite TV company. Some folks want every single channel that is available. They don’t care if 10 of them are shopping channels, or that five of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.

Other though, have grown tired of trying to wade past all of the lower tier channels on the television dial, trying to find something worthwhile to watch. For consumers who have recently bought a new flat-screen TV, TurboHD from DISH Network might be the right choice.

DISH Network currently offers three different packages with TurboHD, those being Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All of these packages are made up of HD channels only. Pricing starts at around $24.99 per month for the entry level package. That package, however, does not include your local channels like ABC and Fox, which cost more per month.

DISH Network also has the Platinum level, which is an additional service to any of the other TurboHD levels. This Platinum package is per month, and adds on seven additional hi definitions channels such as NBA TV and Smithsonian HD.

One point of contention with some current DISH Network customers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the Turbo HD packages. At this time, only new subscribers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD only bundles. Current customers can get DISH TurboHD, but only as an add-on to the SD package.

Another item to consider is in how DISH Network is counting the networks contained in the packages. For example, the TurboHD Bronze package which includes forty-four channels, but of those 24 are network channels, six are PPV, and 14 are video-on-demand channels. While that may be enough for some folks, others are used to having a lot more content to choose from. A final consideration, the Turbo HD packages do not include movie packages like HBO or Showtime, so don’t be surprised when you have to pay an additional fee monthly for commercial free channels like that. For more detail on these packages, check out the latest Dish Turbo HD reviews.

In the early 1990s, satellite television was first introduced to the market. It was understandable that only a few people actually went out of their way to get their hands on a satellite dish. After all, the dish was a lot more expensive just as its size was considered impossible and inconvenient.

At the time, satellite dish owners also used it to have access to channels from different countries or channels that are not meant for mass audiences. However, people did not readily get these channels. They had to look for those signals that is usually by chance alone.

This is no longer the case these days. If you want a particular channel, all you have to do is sign up with a direct broadcast satellite provider or DBS provider. A DBS provider, such as Direct TV or Dish TV, is the one who chooses the channels from the programming sources and brings it to your television sets. Simply sign up, an installer comes out and puts up a satellite dish for you and connects it to all of your television sets inside the home. Generally, new subscribers can have as many as four different rooms set up to receive satellite TV signals. This is quite an advantage when lining up Direct TV and Dish Network packages.

Satellite television is not only limited to the number of channels you can have. There is also a satellite HD that feeds apt programs for your hi definition television set. HDTV has a bigger resolution that gives way to maximum viewing pleasure. These shows also come with surround sound that pretty much takes the cake for television and home theatre enthusiasts alike. Best of all, there are so many DIRECTV deals out there today. Spanish speaking subscribers can take advantage of the Direct TV Mas bundles.

The pleasures it brings take another turn with the arrival of the technology of a DVR. A DVR is a recording tool meant for television shows. This technological marvel gives full control over live TV that fanatics no longer have to fret about missing their most wanted shows. Truly a great way catch up on what you might miss on Direct TV.

100% Hi Definition Service.

If you’re a cable TV subscriber, your service provider most likely carries around 20 to 50 channels in HD. But if you have access to satellite television, chances are you’re enjoying up to 100 channels that have nice crisp pictures and flawless reception.

Currently, not even the biggest cable companies like Comcast, Time Warner, Brighthouse, Cox Cable and Charter Cable can match up to DirecTV’s 130+ channels you can see in HD. By the end of the year, DirecTV projects satellite TV subscribers will be watching up to150 channels in high definition. Put that HDTV to good use and maximize your viewing experience through dish television!

Pay Less, Watch More.

The pro-con list could go on and satellite would still emerge superior to its cable counterpart. However, it all boils down to this: You get to see more for a price that won’t burn holes in your pocket. With satellite, you get more features, more movies, more music, more cartoons, more sports, more HD! You’ll receive more of virtually everything each month. Great sports programming like the NBA League Pass are also available for an extra fee. What more could a customer ask for?

Free Professional Installation.

Most cable providers charge you up to 0 for sending out a technician to gear up your television sets. Satellite TV providers Dish Network and DirecTV offer free installation and setup for your convenience. You no longer have to worry about reading the fine print or fees that cable companies (over)charge one time or monthly.

Multi-media Difference.

Radio on Your Television?! The limits of media are once again broken, but in a good way for the customer. Subscription to Dish Network gives you access to Sirius Satellite Radio to listen to the best music all day long once you’re tired of watching television.

Family Friendly Packages.

With your current cable subscription you get basic packages with channels picked for you. However, satellite TV services from Dish Network and DirecTV program bundles that will cater to all members of the family. Everyone should be able to enjoy viewing without worrying what they young ones are seeing. These satellite packages ensure that kids see age-appropriate as well as educational shows. Another benefit, many foreign language packages are accesible like the Dish Network French bundle which can bring your native tongue home.

Comparing your local cable company, such as Direct TV vs Comcast cable might save you some money. Switch now to a great Direct TV deal if you don’t want to regret missing out on anything.

Ever since its creation, Americans have always been fascinated by the TV. It is a worldwide phenomenon and is currently the leading form of media ahead of print media and radio media. Although the internet has taken away some interest, the television is still the number one source of all news and entertainment programs we all love and crave. From cartoons to reality shows to TV series, they all occupy our time and keep us entertained. There are a lot of different shows available however not all TV companies give us all the shows we want or sometimes give the shows we don’t want. Good thing there are a number of television providers to choose from.

If having local television just doesn’t work for you then the next option is to subscribe to a cable company. There are a lot of different packages cable companies offer and they have different channels. It may be Time Warner cable, Cox, Comcast cable, Charter cable or Bright House cable, they have different packages to offer and it depends solely upon your choice as to which one is the best.

Then there is the choice of satellite television between Dish network and Direct TV. Satellite television offers the most choices of channels and programs and they usually have more of the channels then cable television has. However, this is the most expensive choice as you have to buy a satellite receiver. This is the time of year when there are Direct TV programming packages out there designed to get you set up at a very low price, or no charge at all.

Whatever your taste may be, there are a lot of different choices you can choose from to satisfy your every day television needs. One of the smart things to do before selecting a pay TV provider is to compare services. A great low-cost option out there on the market is the DirecTV Choice. Doing a side by side comparison of DirecTV vs Comcast will give you an idea of which company gives you the channels and services you want. That way you can decide whether you want cable or satellite television. Of course, keep an eye on things as at any time there could be a change in DIRECTV prices.

That way you can be sure everyone in the family is happy with their entertainment choice.

One of the great things about modern cable and satellite TV is the explosion of sports programming now available to customers across the country. Specialized sports packages give the customer access to nearly 30 pro and college football games every weekend. Even the NCAA tournament has expanded coverage with the Mega March Madness package on Direct TV.

Content is king today, and as the saying goes the sports networks want to deliver as much sports content as possible to the sports fan so they can make more money on ads. Lots of new all-sports channels have popped up over the past couple of years. Included among these are Altitude Sports, which carries NBA Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche matches, as well as the Big 10 network and the Mountian, the broadcast home of the Mountain West conference.

While these new channels are nice for fans in certain areas, disagreements between the providers of content and cable networks that deliver the content have resulted in trouble at times to the customer. Consider what happened last year, the Big Ten Network started airing in 2007, but the network was unable to strike a deal with cable TV provider Time Warner. Customers of Time Warner in Michigan were not able to see some of the local teams play because of the carraige dispute. Fortunately, the parties came to an agreement before the 2008 season, so subscribers could stay with Time Warner instead of having to switch to one of the satellite television companies like DISH Network or Direct TV. An important thing to do when considering providers is to consider all factors, comparing DirecTV or TWC.

Specialized sports packages are another issue to deal with for the customer. The NFL TV Sunday Ticket package is exclusive to satellite TV, so if you want this football fest, you have to switch. This has left a bad taste in the mouth of some consumers, who don’t understand why a high demand package like this isn’t available to every provider, especially a big company like Time Warner. Alternative sports packages though are more fan friendly, such as the National Hockey League Center Ice and the NBA League Pass, which are available on almost every cable TV and satellite provider. DIRECTV seems to have all of the premium sports packages like the Sunday Ticket.

I’ve been wanting to get away from Comcast basic cable for quite a while. The problem is they give you a good deal with their packages that include voice, high speed internet, and cable TV service. When customers try to disconnect one of these, you lose the discounts of the package.

But the cable TV setup just has to go, as the service and quality is below average. With so much discussion today about high definition, there just wasn’t much selection with Charter Cable. So I started researching who else was providing service in my area.

I happen to be one of the people who have a couple of options. Unlike many subscribers who can only pick from either the cable company or Direct TV, I have another choice in this region. The phone company in this area has been altering their network. So there is another player with U-verse from AT&T.

That doesn’t mean of course I won’t have similar issues. It would place someone in the same boat as with the cable television company, because phone guys want customers to bundle their television service with internet and voice service. If the deal is good, customers will be pleased. But if its not you’re in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great. So I’m doing a side by side comparison, cable TV vs Direct TV so I make the right choice.

Some evaluations I found on the internet are pretty good on telecom TV service. Because it is new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some people share their bad reviews. Those reviews are the quite amusing, because people make the decision to write a bad review on their bad experience and share it on the world wide web. They rail on the company like it is some giant conspiracy to screw the customer, like the corporation does not want our money!

Another option I am looking into is of course satellite television. Since we have four TV viewers in our home, we usually buy a premium cable television bundle. The satellite TV choices are pretty comparable, as the DirecTV Premier and the America’s Everything Pak by Dish Network are both right around $105 per month. Sure that’s pretty pricey for pay TV, but when you make the comparison with taking your family to dinner and a show, it really isn’t all that much. Some in my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas package looks like a winner. The good thing is that there are plenty of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.

Which is the best choice in today’s market? People in the USA are now more likely to order satellite TV over cable TV for the bottom line reason that you receive more for your money with satellite television. You also get all of the best that television has to offer the customer. Not to mention the better price as well. Satellite television costs less than cable by far. These days with satellite TV, you will be getting hundreds of stations, audio and video, with your package. Cable operators charge you by how many stations you choose, and that can really add up quickly. Better yet, today you can get the DIRECTV Choice Xtra package for much less than you would think.

If you want any extra premium channels such as HBO or Showtime, get ready with your wallet, because you have to be prepared to spend a lot of extra money. They don’t provide you with any service at all in the rural areas, thus satellite TV is the only game in these regions of the county. Cable companies will offer more stations in the urban cities, as there is the potential for many more customers. So at times, a lot may depend on where you live in the country. While they are offering more pay channels in the suburban parts of the country, the number of channels you will receive overall depends on the cable operator, they aren’t always up to date with the most modern technology.

Satellite TV on the other hand offers many more channels, and lots of programs that fit your interests. If you haven’t ever considered satellite TV, it may be time to open your eyes to all that is now available. As mentioned earlier you will pay less for the cost for satellite television when comparing it to cable. Usually, cable can be very expensive because they have a large network to upgrade and maintain.

If you are the type of person that wants more for your money, and who isn’t like that, the certainly check into the two large satellite companies offering service to see what the can offer you today. Another point to consider is quality. Most of us have had the horrible experience of watching poor quality picture from the cable company. Then when you call for resolution, it takes a long time for a technician to come out and fix the problem. While you may experience problems from time to time with satellite TV, overall they have better customer service. Many satellite TV providers also have deals with local carriers like Verizon and Qwest, so you can have a combined bill.

Satellite TV offers the best in digital programming, and they back up their product with excellent service. With satellite TV you can also receive foreign language channels, for example the Dish French package and the DISH Latino Spanish bundle are great foreign languge choices. Finally, if you have a family, including young children you can find much more for them to watch. There literally hundreds of family and children’s programs for you to pick from. Combine that with a DVR, and you will always be able to entertain the kids. If great content is all you need, some satellite companies like Dish Network now offer 100% hi definition packages now, called Turbo HD Gold.
