I’ve Got Some Nice Summer Travel Suggestions
As we watch our vacation budgets carefully, a question that arises is “Where’s a great destination with lots of variety?” You might put a Southern California vacation on your list. It’s got the beaches, theme parks, roller coasters, Hollywood and lots more.
Another possibility would be Hawaii. It’s hard to beat the beautiful warm ocean water, but it does not offer as much overall variety as Southern California. Check this out for a brief comparison between Southern California vacations and vacations in Hawaii. In Southern California you don’t need to worry as much about underwater rocks; also, the humidity is generally lower and the sunshine less intimidating. As we noted, the Hawaiian waters are warmer, but in the middle of summer, the cooler California water can be more invigorating.
A Hawaiian vacation does offer beautiful subtropical vegetation and fascinating Polynesian cultural experiences. But don’t forget the melting pot of many different cultures to be experienced in California, as well as the mountains, desert and coastline.
The beaches are just one of many attractions to be enjoyed in Southern California. Don’t forget about the seven world-class theme parks waiting for your visit. In particular, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm top the list for thrill rides, with the Six Flags roller coasters being in especially great abundance and variety. You’ll discover many intimidating coasters and thrill rides at Knott’s and Six Flags. You won’t find as many true thrill rides at Disneyland as at the other parks, although Space Mountain and the Matterhorn Bobsleds certainly qualify.
You won’t find many roller coasters in Hawaii, although surfing on the North Shore of Oahu in winter would qualify as a thrill ride. It may be that California offers more ways to trim the budget, but sometimes there are great Hawaii vacation packages to be found on the internet or in the newspaper Travel section.
